Catherine Bedard, instructor. Palm Wellness by Natalie Maddox.
Catherine Bedard
Catherine Bedard has been living and working in Tampa for the last nine years. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she began ballet training at the age of five. She studied dance performance at the University of Miami from 1987-89 and studied dance education in the Exercise Science program at Georgia State University from 1990-92. She moved to New York City in 1992 to study contemporary dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and later, in 1996, she graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Dance from City College of New York. During her college years, Catherine began teaching dance and aerobics to cover the costs of tuition and off-campus housing, and in the process she discovered her second love, fitness. Working for organizations such as Australian Body Works (Atlanta), Vertical Clubs (NYC) and Homebodies (NYC), Catherine found that her dance background enabled her to practice what traditional group fitness and strength training classes often lacked -- attention to correct body alignment, balance, flexibility, working through a full range of motion, mind-body connections and stress reduction. Catherine has been certified through The American Council on Exercise since 1988. She is also certified through the Physicalmind Institute to teach the methods of Joseph H. Pilates (since 1997), and she specializes in pre/postnatal fitness instruction. Over the years, she has taught dance composition in NYC public schools through DanceWorks, Inc.’s Arts-in-Education programs, and has worked as a dance consultant for the New York State Council on the Arts. Catherine has danced at many venues in NYC including City Center, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Context, The Field, Taipei Theater, and Local Produce, to name a few, and is honored to have performed the works of accomplished choreographers Alvin Ailey, Milton Myers, JoLea Maffei, Danny Grossman, Laura Bennett, Tryntje Shapli and Kathryn Posin, among others. Since her arrival to the Tampa Bay area, Catherine has taught mind-body fitness for St Joseph’s Hospital, Harbour Island Athletic Club and Spa, Xtreme Fitness, Soul Stretch (St. Petersburg), and for our enlisted men and women at MacDill Airforce Base. She currently resides in south Tampa with her devoted husband of sixteen years, Tony, and her eleven-year old son, Tommy.

Jessica Logsdo, Yoga instructor. Palm Wellness by Natalie Maddox.
Jessica Logsdon, RYT
Jessica Logsdon graduated from the University of Tampa in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. She majored in Biology with a double minor in Chemistry and Mathematics. Her love for animals and science led to Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay, where she became an Education Specialist in the Zoological Education Department. At Busch Gardens she designed and taught educational programs to children of all ages, taught guests about conservation and shared her love for maintaining the health of our planet. Two years after beginning her journey at Busch Gardens, she took her first yoga class and was forever changed. Yoga helped her lose 25 pounds and find an awareness and new love for her body and mind. From this deep spiritual awakening, a new passion was born. Six months after beginning her yoga path, she decided to combine her love for educating and yoga and joined a two year yoga teacher certification program. Over the course of the next two years, her studies took her to Mexico, China and Costa Rica, where her love of yoga grew deeper every day. She taught Hatha Yoga, Pre-natal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Senior Chair Yoga, Hot Flow, and Restorative Yoga at Satya Life Yoga Studio and My Time Yoga Studio in Lakeland, Florida for the last two years. She recently moved back to Tampa and has started educating at Busch Gardens again and has begun teaching in the Tampa Bay area. She wishes to share her love for yoga with you and strives to help you meet your health goals. Whether your aim is to lose weight, increase flexibility, strength or range of motion, de-stress your life, or calm your mind- she wants to help you begin your journey through the beautiful practice of yoga.
