Everyone has a story to share and if observant enough, a lesson to teach.
Mine started twenty four years ago when I had what seemed like a crazy thought (to my father) to go back to school to study Traditional Chinese Medicine. I remember vividly being asked if I thought I could make a career out of that schooling. My answer to him: “ I have no idea but I think so.”
Fast forward to now, being in practice for twenty of those years, I can look back and echo the adage that ‘time flies when you are having fun’. Following my heart for what seemed to be some sort of intuition to study this ancient medicine has continued to feed my soul. The truth of the matter is that as a lifetime learner, this career lends itself to doing just that- being wildly observant, consciously learning from every patient, unconsciously learning from the elders that passed along their wisdom, following in the footsteps of my mentors and teachers, and taking the lead from our ever guiding nature. For me, learning is followed by the desire to share it, to use it to enrich someone else’s life.
My story isn’t unlike the next person. It has been filled with joys, sorrows, trials and tribulations, and quiet moments that have all shaped me to be the person I am today. My lesson to teach?
